Hinckley Golf Club

In 1894, Burbage Common Golf Club was established after permission was granted by the Lord of the Manor to develop a nine-hole golf links on Burbage Common. A lease was secured for an old brick yard site and a disused quarry, which later would feature as the current 11th and 12th holes, and the original Clubhouse was constructed, serving a membership of 20 male golfers.

The original Clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1952, resulting in the loss of most historical records, which have since been partially reconstructed from local newspaper archives. The course, which once had additional temporary holes, reverted to a nine-hole configuration after wartime land appropriations, with the freehold purchased and a new Clubhouse built in 1952, eventually leading to the creation of a modern 18-hole course through cooperation with various entities and the leadership of Frank Downes.

The new 18-hole course, incorporating elements of the old course, was officially opened in 1983, followed by a new clubhouse in 1985. To enhance the golfing experience, 4,000 trees were planted on the previously used farmland which has become a part of the course's layout, offering a variety of golfing challenges.

Green fees must be booked online. From April 1st to October 31st, visitor rates are £45 Monday-Thursday and £55 Friday-Sunday (after 10 am Fridays, after 2 pm Saturdays, after 10 am Sundays). Twilight rates (after 4 pm) are £35. From November 1st to March 31st, visitor rates are £40 Monday-Thursday and £45 Friday-Sunday.
