Huddersfield Golf Club

The Huddersfield Golf Course was established in 1891 with an 18-hole course for men and a 9-hole course for women, designed by golf course architect Tom Dunn. Fixby, as it is known, holds the title of 'the Home of Yorkshire Golf' and houses the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs' honours boards in the Centenary Hall.

The course has undergone several design changes over the past century, with contributions from Alex Herd, W Herbert Fowler, Dr Alastair Mackenzie, Hawtree, and Donald Steel. Notable modifications include the opening of the current 12th & 13th holes in 1969 and the completion of a £0.5m project to relay all greens to USGA standards designed by architect Cameron Sinclair.

Huddersfield Golf Course has hosted various prestigious amateur and professional events, including the Lawrence Batley Seniors' Tournament, National and International events by the Ladies' Golf Union and English Ladies’ Golf Association, and the Seniors Ladies' Home Internationals. It has also featured in Golf Monthly's Top 200 since 2012.

Noteworthy professionals associated with Huddersfield include Alex Herd, Open Championship winner in 1902, and John Fallon, who played in the Ryder Cup in 1955 and captained the Great Britain & Ireland team in 1963. The Club's history with professional golf adds to its reputation.
