Huntercombe Golf Club

Huntercombe Golf Club was established in May 1901, with the course originally designed by Willie Park Junior, a two-time Open Championship winner. It underwent minimal changes since its inception and was built in seven months on land purchased by Park in 1900.

Notable early approval of the course came from American golfer Walter Travis, who praised it after his visit in August 1901. The club's professional, Jim Morris, held a notable record for scores beating his age and was recognized in the Guinness Book of Records.

William Morris, Viscount Nuffield, took ownership of Huntercombe Golf Club in 1926 and maintained it until the Members took over in 1963. The club counted Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, as a member for 32 years, with Fleming incorporating his own golfing handicap at Huntercombe into his novels.

The clubhouse at Huntercombe Golf Club, built at a reported cost of £22,100, was completed in 1964 but part of it was destroyed by fire in 1971. The course played host to television programmes by Peter Alliss in 1985, featuring celebrities like Val Doonican and Bernard Wetherill.

Green fees vary depending on the time of year. During the summer season (until October 31st 2025), weekday rates are £130 and weekend rates are £150. Winter rates (November 1st, 2025, to March 31st, 2026) are £100 on weekdays and are members only on weekends.

Junior rates (under 18) are £40 per round and £50 per day all year round.
