About: Inverness Golf Club

Inverness Golf Club is a members' golf club, in North Scotland. The club was first formed in 1883.

Inverness Golf Club was formally established on November 13, 1883, and the first game was played four days later at Muir of Ord. An ongoing search for additional land led to a new nine-hole course being opened at Culcabock on February 13, 1886, with a standard scratch score set at 32.

The pursuit of a larger course continued, culminating in the opening of a course at Longman on April 15, 1893, but later interest shifted back to Culcabock as more land became available. This facilitated the construction of a new clubhouse at Culcabock, which opened in 1895, followed by a modernized clubhouse in 1908.

The golf course faced challenges during World War II with the temporary loss of holes 11-15 to agriculture, but these were subsequently restored in 1946. In 1954, the council permitted Sunday play for the first time, a significant milestone for the club.
