Kidsneuk Golf Club

Established in 1907, Irvine Ravenspark Golf Course originated as a municipal course in response to the growing popularity of golf in the Irvine area. Prior to its establishment, local golfers played in areas such as the Moor and Golf-fields, but golf was banned on the Moor after the construction of the nearby Academy in 1801 due to damage and safety concerns.

The golf course was commissioned after a feasibility study by Mr Tulloch of Gailes, with the recommendation to proceed with his layout. The initial cost was under £90 for the layout, which included labor, tools, and the creation of 9 greens, while the estimated annual upkeep was proposed at around £80.

Provost Borland officially opened the golf course on June 8, 1907, with the course measuring 2475 yards in length and initially devoid of bunkers, despite being constructed on sandy soil. The course attracted significant interest before its opening, with 300 individuals expressing interest and 250 yearly tickets sold.

The course is associated with the Irvine Ravenspark Golf Club, which was established following a meeting at the Institute Halls, where it was unanimously decided to form the Ravenspark Golf Club. At that founding meeting, fees were set at 1s (5p) per annum, and the club's initial officers were appointed, including Provost Borland as the Honorary President.
