Knock Golf Club

Knock Golf Club's golf course was established in 1895 as part of the private members Club. The course was originally located in Cherryvalley and later moved in 1920 to its current location at 'Summerfield' near the village of Dundonald.

The renowned golf course architects 'Colt, MacKenzie and Allison' were commissioned to design the present golf course. Notable for its parkland style, the course features design elements identifiable with these architects, who are also associated with prestigious courses such as Pine Valley, Muirfield, and Augusta National.

The Mackenzie Institute believe McKenzie was primarily responsible for the design, and have found club minutes from May 1920 referencing the contract of employment. They note, "MacKenzie was almost certainly the partner responsible, as he later claimed this course in a list of his courses from 1923, while his brother Charles included it in a list of courses that he had constructed."
