Leek Golf Club

Leek Golf Club was registered with the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in 1892, making it one of the oldest clubs in the country. The Club joined the 1892 Club, allowing members from other 1892 clubs to play on their course, highlighting its historic significance.

The golf course originally consisted of a 9-hole layout across the road from its present location, with names like Ballington and Mallenkoff for the holes. By 1897, an additional nine holes had been established on the current site, using a field from Big Birchall Farm, although the fairway grass was only cut once a year.

In 1922, the club made the significant decision to purchase 92 acres of land at the Big Birchall site, which remains the course's home. Tom Williamson designed the golf course, which officially opened on July 5, 1923, with a layout nearly identical to the present-day course.

Harry Vardon, a six-time Open Championship winner, was invited to inspect the new course in 1924. The retention of Williamson's original layout suggests Vardon's approval of the course, which has been maintained over the years.

Visitor green fees at Leek Golf Club vary depending on the time of year. During the summer season (April 1st to October 31st), weekday rates are £50.00 and weekend/bank holiday rates are £60.00.

Winter rates (November 1st to March 31st) are £30.00 on weekdays. Twilight rates after 4:30 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays are £27.50. Junior visitor rates are £20.00 year-round. County Card holders pay £35.00 midweek.
