Leominster Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Herefordshire. The club was first formed in 1905.
Leominster Golf Club's course has its origins traced back to its first formation in 1903 in Kingsland and official establishment as Leominster Golf Club in 1905. The course was initially established at Kingsland but was moved to a second location at Steens Bridge soon afterward.
The course underwent a hiatus during World War II due to falling membership and lay dormant until attempts to revive it in the late 1940s. After several failed reformation attempts and various uses of the land, the course was successfully re-established in 1967 on land owned by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Helme, with the inaugural committee meeting held at the Lamb Inn, Stoke Prior.
In 1967, the course began with 5 holes, and by 1968, four additional holes were added, making it a 9-hole course. By 1971, the club's membership rose to over 200, and new agreements were made with the landlord which included the removal of fences around the greens and the exclusion of cattle from the course.
During the late 1980s and 1990s, the course expanded from 9 to 18 holes under the design of architect Bob Sandow, DFC. The additional land was acquired from the neighboring farmer, allowing for a significant redesign and expansion overseen by committees and members, notably John Ashcroft, David Sayers, and Jack Cooper.
By 1999, the course's layout had developed further, leading to the construction of two new ponds on the 18th hole, complementing the clubhouse's relocation and car park extension. The course saw additional minor changes, including a new white tee on the 15th hole and modifications of the 3rd tee to introduce a dog-leg.
As of 1999, a new clubhouse was built to provide better amenities, including a golf shop and catering facilities, marking a significant upgrade from the original 'chicken shed' clubhouse established in 1969. The new clubhouse also functions as a community space and hosts events for both the club and the local community.
