Limerick Golf Club

Limerick Golf Club was founded in 1891 and is situated at Ballyclough, on the southern outskirts of Limerick City on the historical site of Roxboro Castle and grounds. The course is a mature parkland style and includes several holes designed by Dr. Alister McKenzie, who is known for his work on Lahinch and Augusta National, as well as holes by John D. Harris, with the course measuring 6500 yards and having a par of 72.

The golf course has made its mark in competitive golf, holding 16 national titles and being the first Irish club to win a European title at senior level, with its most recent Irish titles in 2019. Limerick Golf Club has hosted numerous championships and an exhibition match in the 1930s featuring Walter Hagen and John Burke, increasing its historical significance in the golfing community.

The JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am, regarded as the largest pro-am event in Europe, was hosted at Limerick Golf Club starting in 1990 until its last event in July 2000, attracting top players like Tiger Woods and Mark O'Meara, and successfully raising over €19 million for local charities. Woods and O'Meara were awarded Honorary Life Membership in 2001, signifying the club's prestige within the golfing world.

In August 2007, a new clubhouse was inaugurated by professional golfer Padraig Harrington, providing extensive views of the golf course and furnishing full catering and bar services. The club's restaurant is noted for its commitment to quality in both the presentation and service provided.
