About: Lobden Golf Club

Lobden Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Lancashire. The club was first formed in 1888.

Lobden Golf Club was founded in 1888, and by 1889 it had established its own 'Rules of Golf' along with a full list of members and office bearers. The club experienced significant development with improvements to the clubhouse and course, under the guidance of figures such as Frederick H. Lye.

The golf course faced various challenges over the years, including the need to abandon a new course almost immediately after its opening in 1913, adjustments during wartime, and addressing the presence of cattle and bunkers on the course. In 1935, the course standardized play by adopting the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs' Standard Scratch Score (SSS) and set a course record.
