About: Long Ashton Golf Club

Long Ashton Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Gloucestershire. The club was first formed in 1893.

The golf course at Long Ashton was initially established as a nine-hole course in 1893 and expanded to an 18-hole course following the acquisition of additional land in 1905. Although its early development is tied to land that was once part of the Ashton Court estate, it wasn't until 1957 that the Club purchased the property.

In 1937, renowned golf architects Hawtree and Taylor were tasked with planning a re-design of the course, and much of their layout remains in use today. Notable enhancements include the introduction of a 12-acre practice facility in 1966, which is considered one of the finest in the region.

The course has been the venue for several major golf tournaments, including The Martini International Tournament in 1966 and the Coca-Cola Young Professionals in 1972. It has also hosted the English Boys' and British Ladies' competitions in recent decades.

Moreover, the course has been influential in the sporting careers of numerous golfers, including Kitrina Douglas, Andrew Sherborne, David Ray, Neal Briggs, and Chris Wood, all of whom have emerged from Long Ashton's junior ranks to achieve professional success on the tournament circuits.
