Longniddry Golf Club

Longniddry Golf Club was established in 1921 on land bought by the 7th Earl of Wemyss and March, with the golf course designed by Harry S. Colt. The course, originally 6,369 yards, was carved out of 150 acres, with tree clearance including the historically significant Boglehill Wood.

The inaugural match on the new course featured noted golfers James Braid, Ted Ray, J.H. Taylor, and Abe Mitchell, drawing an audience of approximately 4,000 spectators. Alterations to the original design include James Braid's consultation on the second hole in 1936 and subsequent changes to other parts of the course.

During World War II, portions of the course were repurposed for agriculture, and afterward, Philip Mackenzie Ross reworked the damaged sections, resulting in the elimination of two seaside holes. Donald Steele later advised on course architecture, which involved relocating many of the original cross-bunkers.

The course, influenced by architects such as Colt, Braid, Ross, and Steele, now spans 106 acres and measures 6,230 yards. Longniddry Golf Club maintains ties with the Wemyss and March Estate, with the Earl of Wemyss serving as the Club's President.
