Machrie Bay Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Ayrshire & Arran. The club was first formed in 1900.
The Machrie Bay Golf Course was established in 1900, designed by Willie Fernie. The layout of the course has evolved over time, with what is now the 9th hole originally serving as the first hole at the time of opening.
In 1934, Machrie hall was opened near the course, and significant changes have occurred since, like the extension of the 4th hole in 2005 and the introduction of a new 3rd hole that same year. Additionally, the course reacted to environmental challenges by building a new 1st hole on higher ground in 2015 to mitigate issues with sea exposure.
Notable historical events include a visit from golfers Walter Hagen and Joe Kirkwood Sr. on August 10th, 1937. As of April 2022, the Machrie Bay Golf Club assumed management responsibilities of the golf course from Dougarie Estate, marking a new chapter in its history.
