About: Macroom Golf Club

Macroom Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Cork. The club was first formed in 1925.

Macroom Golf Course was established in 1925 when the Macroom Castle Demesne was secured by local business figures for the creation of the golf course. The acquisition of the land amounted to £1,500, following the sale by Lady Olivia Ardilaun, the widow of Lord Ardilaun, also known as Sir Arthur Guinness.

The original course consisted of nine holes and was part of the efforts to enhance the town's amenities. The presence of the course on the historical site of a 12th-century castle adds a significant cultural backdrop to its layout.

In 1993, the golf course underwent significant expansions, with the addition of nine more holes, leading to a full 18-hole course. Subsequently, a new clubhouse was constructed and completed in 1997, marking a new phase in the course's history.

The course features elements of its location's heritage, such as the entrance through the historic Castle Gates.

Visitors are welcome at Macroom Golf Club.

Green fees are €35 on weekdays and €40 on weekends. Contact the club directly for booking information or potential deals.
