Market Drayton Golf Club

Market Drayton Golf Course was initially laid out as a nine-hole course in 1926 on its current site, having been established originally in 1906 and moving through three different locations on the outskirts of Market Drayton. The club started with approximately seventy members and has maintained a tradition of encouraging participation across all demographics, including men, women, juniors, and seniors.

In 1988, Market Drayton Golf Course expanded to an 18-hole layout through land acquisition and development, offering golfers a parkland and heathland course that supports a rich variety of wildlife. Notably, the course features fairways that wind around Brownhill Wood and Salisbury Hill, which is a site of historical significance from the Battle of Blore Heath in 1459.

A new clubhouse was added in 1993 to enhance the players' experience at Market Drayton Golf Course, which is designed to challenge golfers of every skill level. The course's most famous professional was Bert Gadd, who was appointed in 1927 and later won the French Open in 1933 and the Irish Open in 1937.

The golf course not only showcases natural drainage and playable conditions year-round but also plays host to various club competitions and honors its historical heritage. Artifacts, including restored clubs from Bert Gadd, are displayed in the clubhouse, and the course's history is celebrated through trophies and awards competed for each year.
