Marlborough Golf Club

Marlborough Golf Course was established in 1888, beginning with nine holes on Marlborough Common and included a simple hut as a clubhouse. The course faced a hiatus during the First World War when it was used for military training, noticeable by the old gun emplacements near the first green.

Following the war, renowned architects Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler designed nine new holes, which opened in 1921, with eight of these holes still in use today, albeit modified. The course further evolved post-Second World War with the introduction of an additional nine holes designed by J Hamilton Stutt, culminating in a full eighteen-hole course inaugurated in August 1974.

Marlborough Golf Course features a parkland front nine and a downland back nine located in close proximity to historic Marlborough near Swindon. Notable features include the course's distinct compositions, providing varied challenges for golfers, and its significant clubhouse with facilities for events such as weddings and corporate functions.

The club's growth continued with the construction of a new clubhouse in 1988, timed for the centenary. Today, Marlborough Golf Course is a vibrant members' club with a focus on continuous improvement and fostering a community atmosphere, while also extending a welcome to visitors and event participants.

Visitors are welcome and can book tee times up to 2 days in advance for play from 10 a.m., and up to 4 days in advance to play from 1 p.m. Book and pay your green fee on the website for the best rates.
