Mickleover Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Derbyshire. The club was first formed in 1923.
Mickleover Golf Club was established following a General Meeting on March 7, 1923, with the club's formation occurring five days later, and the golf course, initially comprising nine holes, was designed and laid shortly after for the local golf community. Two years later, in 1925, an additional nine holes were added to create a full 18-hole course.
During World War II, the golf course experienced transformations as a home guard post and the installation of obstructions to prevent enemy plane landings; some holes were even repurposed for agriculture but were restored in 1944. The golf course underwent significant changes in the 1970s, including the construction of a new clubhouse and the redesign of the course by Cotton, Pennick, Lawrie, and Partners, in response to the development of the A38 trunk road which bisected the course.
The current clubhouse opened in November 1972, and the course was ready in 1973, featuring a par-69, 18-hole course that spanned 5,621 yards; over the years, the course saw updates such as a new pro shop, the addition of a dining room, and an automated sprinkler system. Mickleover Golf Club faced challenges in the early 2000s with a decline in memberships but managed to persevere and continued to evolve with new facilities, including a redesigned pro shop that opened in 2006.
In recent years, the course has hosted various significant championships, reflecting its ongoing status as a competitive venue, and the club has been involved in community support after acquiring Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status in 2008. The club is expected to celebrate its centenary in 2023, marking a significant milestone in its history.
