North Wales Golf Club

North Wales Golf Club, established in 1894 by Tancred D Cummins, is a Championship standard links course located on Penmorfa Beach, also known as West Shore, in Llandudno. The course has hosted significant events such as the Welsh Team Championships in 1895 and presents a challenging layout, influenced by the prevailing westerly winds.

Notable features of North Wales Golf Club include its coastal location, offering changing vistas of historical and natural landmarks such as Conwy Castle, Eryri Snowdonia mountains, and the Great Orme. The course has evolved since its inception, retaining celebrated hole names like Hades (13th) and Paradise (18th), with alterations due to housing development and coastal erosion.

The golf course's design was influenced by early connections with golfing legends John Ball and Harold H Hilton, who provided input and advice. These associations are commemorated at the club, including an annual competition in Ball's honor and the club motto 'far and sure' inspired by the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

North Wales Golf Club has also seen the presence of professional golfer Henry Cotton, who referred to the course as a 'gem' after his 1954 Penfold competition victory there. The course facilities have been enhanced over the years with the addition of a practice ground and pitching area to complement its well-established links layout.

Tee times can be booked online, or by contacting the Office or Pro Shop. A deposit of £10 per player is required for all pre-bookings.

Green fees should be paid at the Pro Shop or Office before playing. Out of hours, payment can be made at the bar.

Complimentary green fees may be available to current Captains, Secretaries, PGA Professionals, and Head Green Keepers (members of BIGGA) on presentation of valid proof, possibly restricted to 2 per party.
