Northamptonshire County Golf Club

Northamptonshire County Golf Course was designed by Harry S Colt and established in 1909, with construction beginning in April of that year and the course opening in 1910. Colt's design reflects a traditional heathland golf course style and has been minimally altered, preserving his original vision.

In 1947, James Braid redesigned the pattern and arrangement of many bunkers and relocated the 18th green to its current position in front of the clubhouse. Cameron Sinclair later added three new holes in 2004, creating an additional 9-hole loop, and designed a 6-hole par-3 course in 2008 with synthetic putting surfaces.

Throughout its history, the course has hosted several prestigious tournaments, including the English Schools National Championships and the British Girls Open Tournament, as well as acting as a regional qualifying course for the Open Championship. The course has undergone modernization efforts led by Cameron Sinclair, aiming to provide a challenging yet fair test of golf, which included expanding the course to 6750 yards from the back tees while maintaining its length from the yellow tees.

Notable features of the course include undulating woodland with gorse, heather, and pine, presenting particular challenges to golfers. It has been the venue for the PGA Seniors Professional Championship from 2007 to 2013, indicating its caliber and the difficulty of achieving low scores even among professional players.

Green fees are valid from March 31st, 2025 to October 26th, 2025. A valid handicap is required to play the course. Contact the Pro Shop to check date availability.
