Overstone Park Golf Club

The Overstone Park Hotel, Golf & Leisure Resort in Northampton features a Donald Steel-designed golf course, constructed in the early 1990s and opened in 1992. The course is part of a wider leisure facility that includes a gymnasium and pool; it was the brainchild of founder of the Watermark Leisure Company, Jeremy Paxton and financed by the purchase of "refundable" membership certificates valid for 999 years. The layout is set up with two returning nines, measuring just under 6,000 yards from the back tees and playing to a par of 72. The course has two par threes within the opening four holes, with the 117-yard 4th hole featuring a small pond near the green. On the back nine, the challenging stroke index 1 hole is the right doglegging par five 11th. In 2017, the ownership of the club changed, and the decision was made to remove six bunkers from the course to enhance playability and consistency.
