Parkstone Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Dorset. The club was first formed in 1909.
Parkstone Golf Club was founded in 1909 by Lord Wimborne, with the original course designed by the renowned Scottish golfer and architect, Willie Park Jr., who was a two-time Open Champion and among the early golf course designers. The course was constructed in the Luscombe Valley, near Poole Harbour, on land that was sandy, undulating, and initially heavily wooded, requiring the removal of some 13,000 trees during construction to shape the course while retaining its natural contours.
In the 1920s, recognizing advancements in golf equipment and limitations of the initial design, Parkstone's Board of Directors acquired an additional 63 acres of land and commissioned James Braid, a five-time Open champion and experienced golf architect, to redesign portions of the course. This resulted in the creation of six new holes, significant alterations to four, and retention of eight as they were, helping to evolve Parkstone Golf Club into the acclaimed heathland course it is known for today.
