About: Prudhoe Golf Club

Prudhoe Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Northumberland. The club was first formed in 1930.

Prudhoe Golf Club's course was established in 1930 by a group including Mr. Sidney Bates and Father Walsh, with the course originally located on land owned by the West Wylam Colliery. Its initial greenkeeper was J. Clarence, who along with assistant R. Brown, set the foundational standards for the course.

In 1934, the course was moved to its current location, on land sub-leased from a party who had leased it from Joseph Frederick Bell, with the Duke of Northumberland owning the property. The lease passed through various hands until the club signed a direct lease with the Duke in 1959 for a 21-year term at an annual rent of £250.

Land acquisitions over time allowed for the expansion and redesign of the course, including extra land next to Stanley Burn in 1971, and a significant expansion in 1968 with new holes 12 – 17 after leasing land from Tynedale Council on a 125-year term. The club achieved a full 18-hole course, attracting attention for its continued development and improvement.

The club's history is marked by contributions from its members and leadership such as Mr. Dennis Jackson, a Past President and Trustee, and the dedication to improving the course has been consistent since its inception. From a modest start on a colliery's land, Prudhoe Golf Club has now become a well-respected golf course with enduring ties to its community and history.

Visitors are welcome throughout the year. Bookings can be made online via BRS Visitors Booking.

Weekday rounds after 16:00 are available for a twilight rate of £20.00 per person. Buggies are available for hire at £25 for 18 holes and it is best to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
