About: Pyecombe Golf Club

Pyecombe Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Sussex. The club was first formed in 1894.

Pyecombe Golf Club was originally sculptured in 1894 and later refined by the well-known golf architect, James Braid. Over time, the course has expanded, obtaining additional land to extend the layout and now measures 6278 yards from the White tees, 5955 yards from the Yellow tees, and 5559 yards off the Red tees.

Located in the South Downs National Park, an area recognized for its natural beauty, Pyecombe Golf Course boasts a variety of wildlife and native flora. The course is known for its undulating fairways, comparatively small greens, and challenging dog legs that demand a wide range of golf shots and the use of multiple clubs.

Pyecombe Golf Course, with efficient natural drainage, is operational throughout the year, maintaining its accessibility in winter when course closures are rare. In 2016, the club was honored with the STRI National Environmental Golf Club of the Year award, highlighting its commitment to environmental stewardship and quality maintenance.

Along with its recognition for environmental excellence, Pyecombe Golf Club was also acclaimed as the 'Southern Counties Golf Club of the Year' in 2013, particularly noted for the outstanding condition of its greens and fairways. The course is not just a venue for golf but also accommodates a range of functions and activities for members and visitors.
