Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club

Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club was established in 1909 and is situated with views over the Vale of Belvoir. The Club was formed after a group of sportsmen received a lease of approximately 40 acres from Lord Manvers in 1903, leading to the adoption of the Manvers Coat of Arms by the Club.

Tom Williamson designed the original nine-hole course, and along with Harry Vardon, inaugurated the course with an exhibition match on 9th October 1909. Following the purchase of the lease and additional land acquisitions in 1920 and 1924, an expanded 18-hole course was opened in June 1925.

In 1966 the Club acquired more land, however, it lost its clubhouse and part of the course in 1972 due to infrastructure developments. The club overcame this challenge, obtaining 30 new acres and engaging Golf Course Architect Frank Pennick to redesign the course, culminating in the opening of a new clubhouse on 17th July 1972.

Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club is not only the site where the world-famous Vardon grip was popularized by Harry Vardon, but it is also a course enriched by hundreds of trees planted by the Club as part of its ongoing environmental stewardship. The club has hosted the prestigious McGregor Trophy, drawing international attention, and fostering future golfing talent.
