About: Rathfarnham Golf Club

Rathfarnham Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Dublin. The club was first formed in 1899.

Rathfarnham Golf Club was established in 1899 during a period of significant growth in the popularity of golf, with over 70 clubs formed in Ireland by the end of the 19th century. The original nine-hole course was located in Butterfield, Rathfarnham, and was surveyed by T. Hood from The Royal Dublin Golf Club, with the greens and tees laid out to create a challenging course.

In 1966, Rathfarnham Golf Club moved to a new location in Newtown from its original site in Butterfield. This relocation involved the development of a new course from scratch, which was designed by John Jacobs and officially opened on April 30, 1966.
