About: Rhos-on-Sea Golf Club

Rhos-on-Sea Golf Club is a members' golf club, in North Wales. The club was first formed in 1899.

Rhos on Sea Golf Club was established in 1899 on 120 acres of Rhyd Farm by a local architect, W H Goldsmith, with the landscape reputed to be the original bed of the River Conwy. Notable features include its location on a former river bed, with a stream called Afon Ganol running through the course, and the course initially using the original farmhouse as its clubhouse until it was replaced in 1905.

In 1934, golf course architect J Simpson redesigned the layout, which is still in use today, while 1981 saw the reversal of the playing order of the holes, placing the 18th hole in front of the clubhouse. Historically, the course spanned the counties of Gwynedd and Clwyd, it was involved in wartime efforts, and it addressed flooding issues with a significant drainage overhaul, illustrating the club’s adaptation to its physical and social environment over time.

Green fees vary depending on the time of year and day of the week. Twilight rates are available after 1pm from November 1st to March 31st, and after 4pm from May 1st to September 30th.
