Rhyl Golf Club is a members' golf club, in North Wales.
The golf course opened in April 1908 with Harry Vardon, a renowned professional golfer, playing at the opening event. The course was designed by James Braid in 1890, who is acknowledged as one of the world’s most significant golf course designers.
The course features trademark designs by James Braid, including subtle doglegs, natural slopes, and deep bunkers. It is situated on the North Wales coast between Rhyl and Prestatyn, in close proximity to the A55 Expressway.
A Red Cross Exhibition Match involving three-time Open Championship winner Henry Cotton and Tommy Haliburton was held at the course on September 1st, 1940. Notably, Haliburton holds the record for the lowest 9 holes in The Open, achieving it at Royal Lytham in 1963.
Dai Rees, a notable Welsh golfer, led the Great Britain Ryder Cup team to victory against the United States at Lindrick Golf Club in Yorkshire, England in 1957. This victory was a rare defeat for the United States in the Ryder Cup from 1933 to 1985.
