Richmond Golf Club

The Richmond Golf Club was established in February 1891 and initially occupied a leased course at Old Deer Park before moving to its current location in Petersham. Notable early members included government ministers, Lord Chancellors, a Speaker of the House of Commons, and a Prime Minister, connections celebrated through competition trophies such as The Halsbury Cup and The Selby Challenge Cup.

In 1924, the Duke of York, who would become King George VI, served as the Captain of The Richmond Golf Club, with Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, later acting as the Club's Patron until her death in 2002. Prince Arthur of Connaught, a grandson of Queen Victoria, was also a member and the patron of the trophy bearing his name.

The Richmond Golf Club's course, originally designed by Tom Dunn, is a par 70, 6091 yard course that has been extensively updated. It is situated close to London, within the village of Petersham, bordering Richmond Park and is characterized by an abundance of local wildlife and tranquil surroundings.

The clubhouse, an early-Georgian mansion dating from 1725, is noted for being one of the finest examples of English Palladian architecture. Despite its historical connections and notable features, The Richmond Golf Club is a private Members Club that welcomes new members, guests, and visiting players.
