Rochford Hundred Golf Club

The Rochford Hundred Golf Club was formed in 1893, originally named Southend Golf Club and located near Southchurch in Southend. In 1896, the club moved to Rochford after James Tabor invited the membership and offered to pay for the construction of an eighteen-hole course.

Rochford Hundred Golf Club features a parkland course, measuring 6,355 yards from the white tees with a par of 72. This layout has been in place since a redesign that occurred in 1924.

The golf course is notable for having an active church, St Andrews Church, within its grounds, visible from the clubhouse and pivotal points like the 1st tee and 18th fairway. The church also provides a flag which helps golfers ascertain wind direction and speed throughout the course.

With a number of strategically placed ditches and well-positioned bunkers, the course offers a challenge to golfers’ accuracy. During the main playing season, fairways can become firm, aiding distance from the tee while complicating approach shots to the greens.

Visitors are welcome Monday to Friday. Contact the Professional Shop to avoid clashing with pre-booked matches, competitions or societies. Twilight fees are available April to October.
