Rockmount Golf Club

The Rockmount Golf Course was established in 1991 on part of a farmland near Carryduff by Robert and Diane Patterson. After overcoming the obstacle of planning permission, construction began in the summer of 1991 and took four years to complete.

Officially opening on May 8, 1995, with an inaugural event featuring Ryder Cup player Darren Clarke, the course covers 6,373 yards with a par of 72, comprising a mixture of three long par 3's, one short par 3, four par 5's, and ten par 4's. Notable features include the integration of the natural elements, bunkers, water hazards, and a variety of mature trees.

Continuous enhancements have been made since its opening, including the addition of new bunkers, reshaping of existing ones, and the planting of developed trees to create strategic challenges. Water features also play a significant role in the course design, with new hazards and a large drainage ditch affecting play on multiple holes.

Amendments and improvements to both the course and the clubhouse have been ongoing, with the clubhouse experiencing significant extensions and the membership growing from an initial full membership of 400 to 700, inclusive of a thriving Juvenile section. The course has seen rapid maturation and the introduction of new features and hazards to maintain its status as a challenging test of golf.
