Royal Blackheath Golf Club

Royal Blackheath Golf Club was formally instituted in 1608, which establishes it as the oldest golf club in England. The course, positioned in Eltham, London, resides in a region steeped in historical significance attributed to the game of golf.

Originally designed in 1892 by Thomas Dunn, Royal Blackheath's course has evolved over time with contributions by celebrated golfer and course architect James Braid in the 1920s, and more recent updates by Ken Moodie in 2016 to modernize the course.

The clubhouse, Eltham Lodge, is a Grade I-listed building dating back to 1664 and became the home of the Royal Blackheath Golf Club in 1924. The heritage of Eltham Lodge and its connection to Sir John Shaw, its original builder, adds a historic dimension to the golf club.

The golf course at Royal Blackheath offers a par 71 layout and features natural parkland, excellent fairways, and strategically positioned bunkers, contributing to a slope rating of 128 from the back tees. These features present a compelling test for golfers of all skill levels.

Green fee rates vary depending on the day of the week and time of year. From May to September, adult visitor rates are £110 on weekdays and £130 on weekends (after 3pm on Sunday only). Twilight rates (after 4pm) are £80 every day. From October, adult visitor rates are £85 on weekdays and £115 on weekends (after 2pm on Sunday only).

County Card and Association of James Braid rates are also available. Tee times can be booked online up to four weeks in advance.
