Royal Porthcawl Golf Club is a members' golf club, in South Wales. The club was first formed in 1891.
Royal Porthcawl, founded in 1891, became South Wales' first full 18-hole course in 1895 and received the Royal title in 1909. Peter Evans, professional at Porthcawl for much of his career, joined the Cookie Jar Golf Podcast (Ep. 328, Jul 2024): "Someone who really knows the secrets of the links better than anyone." The hosts noted: "The jeopardy of being below the hole is immense at Porthcawl." A guest recalled: "I was a junior member there. I can remember spending a beautiful day down at the beach at Porthcawl Bay, which is just beneath the fourth tee. My father said to me – this is a great, great course."
The course has hosted the Amateur Championship, Walker Cup, Senior Open and countless elite events. It is consistently rated Wales' number one club.
