Royal Winchester Golf Club

Royal Winchester Golf Club was established in 1888, with land rented at Morn Hill for the creation of a golf links following the initiative by The Rt. Hon. The Earl of Northesk and local golf enthusiasts. The first clubhouse was a hut financed by a £50 loan from Lord Northesk and debentures purchased by members, and the course was initially known as The Winchester Golf Club with aspirations to gain the 'Royal' title, which it later achieved.

The golf course is an 18-hole layout designed by JH Taylor and is situated on Hampshire Downland, offering a well-draining and undulating terrain for year-round play. Notable features include a recently completed bunker regeneration project in 2019, extensive practice facilities, and the course is recognized for uniform bunker playability and panoramic views over northeast Hampshire.

Visitors are welcome to play Monday to Friday by arrangement through the office. Weekend rates are available after 1:00 PM. Twilight rates are available May to October 2025 only after 4:00pm.
