Seacroft Golf Club

Seacroft Golf Club, established in 1895, originally opened a nine-hole course which was located outside the Vine Hotel in Skegness. The course was inaugurated on April 24th of that year with an exhibition match between JH Taylor, an Open Championship winner, and club professional GK Wilson.

In 1900, Seacroft Golf Club expanded to acquire land to the south, leading to the creation of the 18-hole Seacroft Golf Links designed by Willie Fernie. Over the next two decades, adjustments to the course were made, including a 1923 expansion eastward; however, a proposed redesign by Dr. Alister MacKenzie that year was rejected by the club directors.

The golf course has been the venue for numerous notable competitions, including the 1935 English Ladies Close Golf Championship that saw Gloria Minoprio's unconventional attire make headlines. Furthermore, Seacroft has played host to the English County Finals in 1960 and 1988, along with other national championship events over the years.

Despite turning down Dr. Alister MacKenzie's redesign, Seacroft Golf Club has maintained a reputation for playing host to significant golf matches and producing champions, such as Helen Hewlett, who went on to succeed both as an amateur and a professional golfer. The club is situated on the Lincolnshire coast, providing a traditional links experience.

Green fees vary depending on the time of year and day of the week. Day rates are available from 9:30am to 2:30pm and twilight rates are available from 2:30pm to 6pm. For groups of 5 and above, please contact the Professional Shop on 01754 763020 (Ext 1).
