Shaw Hill Hotel Golf & Country Club

The golf course at Shaw Hill Golf & Spa Hotel was designed by Laurence Allamby, a protégé of the renowned golf course architect Dr. Alister McKenzie. After a meeting with local benefactors in the winter of 1923, Allamby was tasked with creating the course, which commenced construction in 1924 and was completed by spring 1925.

The course encompasses over 100 acres of parkland and presents a challenging experience with features such as ponds, a brook, and internal out-of-bounds areas, which, coupled with hundreds of trees, can penalize any inaccurate shots. It features bunkered greens, dog-legs, long par threes, and ponds that enforce strategic play, although rewarding aggressive play on par fives and precision on shorter holes.
