South Herts Golf Club

South Herts Golf Club was established following the inception of a New Course Loan fund by the Committee and members of Muswell Hill Golf Club in 1899, as they faced expulsion from their existing grounds. The club was formed, in part, to allow play on Sundays, diverging from Muswell Hill's restrictions due to church-owned grounds.

Approximately 50 subscribers met on 21st November 1899 and designated the name South Herts Golf Club, as the land acquired for the new course was situated within the southern boundary of Hertfordshire, which is now part of Greater London. Lease agreements for 112 acres were finalized on 21st December 1899, and Willie Park Junior, a two-time Open Champion, was commissioned to design the golf course.

Park, renowned for his parkland courses, designed South Herts Golf Club with its official opening coinciding with the unveiling of the first Clubhouse in March 1901, even though the course began informal play on 1st October 1900. Muswell Hill Golf Club ultimately withstood its challenges and remains operational, parallel to the thriving South Herts Golf Club.

The club features two golf courses, the 18-hole Vardon Course and the 9-hole Rees Course, set amid 150 acres of parkland within proximity to central London, boasting convenient access to major transport links. South Herts Golf Club has a storied past, once having legendary golfers Harry Vardon and Dai Rees as professionals.

Green fees are effective from 1st April 2025 to 31st October 2025. Visitors are welcome 7 days a week.

All rates are per person and subject to tee-time availability. Proof of handicap is required to play the Vardon Course.
