Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club

Established in 1906, Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club (S&A) has earned recognition for its contributions to amateur and professional golf, hosting multiple championship events, including the Ryder Cup in 1933 and 1937. The link-style course began its connection with professional golf in 1917 when it held an exhibition match to support wounded soldiers in World War I.

The course has been a venue for several prestigious tournaments, such as the Lancashire Amateur Championship, won by Pamela Barton in 1936, and the British Ladies Amateur Championship. Notable events at S&A have featured top players like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Justin Rose, affirming the course's importance in the golfing world.

Southport and Ainsdale's layout is characterized by undulating fairways, rolling greens, and strategically placed bunkers, set amongst coastal dunes and heathland. Its location ensures a varying play experience influenced by the sea breeze of the Irish Sea.

The club continues to host major events, including The Amateur Championship and the Professional Rose Ladies Series in 2023, while maintaining its heritage and commitment to supporting the growth of golf. The course remains a significant test of skill for both amateur and professional golfers today.

Tee times are very popular, especially May, June, July, and September. Basic golf rates are published via the booking portal and are based on demand, time of day, and time of year.

Corporate and group bookings of 12 or less should also use the booking portal. Groups of more than 12 should contact the Golf Operations Manager.
