St Athan Golf Club

The inception of St Athan Golf Course can be traced back to the 1970s when Chief Technician Denis Archer conceived the idea. Initially aimed to be a pitch and putt with only a few holes, the course was established in 1976 amidst the remnants of an old hospital site with limited resources and space.

Over the years, significant developments have taken place, including the introduction of new holes, as well as the addition of trees, irrigation, and drainage systems leading to its official inauguration in 1977. In 2003, the Ministry of Defence leased the land to the Welsh Development Agency, prompting the golf club to transition from RAF administration to a Company Limited by Guarantee in January 2004.

St Athan Golf Course features a 9-hole layout which includes tree-lined fairways and strategic bunkers that present a challenge for various skill levels. The course, located in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales, measures 6,608 yards with a par of 72, and is distinguished by a notably lengthy 590-yard par 5 hole.

The golf course is complemented by a Clubhouse providing changing rooms, bar facilities, and a function room available for events.
