Stanmore Golf Club

Stanmore Golf Club was established in 1893, originally as a private course utilized by guests and friends of Frederick Gordon, a prominent hotelier with extensive property holdings including Stanmore. The course was laid out across Stanmore Park, increasing accessibility from London due to a railway line established by Gordon.

The golf course officially launched with a tournament in 1893, attracting notable players including James Braid, J.H. Taylor, and Harry Vardon. These competitions helped establish Stanmore's reputation, and the course featured 27 holes during its early years with separate men's and ladies' courses.

Post World War I, renowned golf course designer Alister MacKenzie was commissioned to reconstruct Stanmore's golf course. The design principles MacKenzie applied aimed to mirror natural landscapes, which contributed to the course's enduring appeal despite changes over the years, including the reduction to 18 holes surrounding Belmont Hill.

The golf course, through its history, has seen modifications and developments with a reduction of the original 27 holes to the current 18-hole layout. Today, the course presents 6,025 yards of play with a par of 69 and features varied topography, strategic bunkering, and potential challenges for golfers of all skill levels.

Visitors can book weekday tee times 7 days in advance and weekend tee times 3 days in advance. Green fees from April 1st, 2025, are £49.50 for weekdays and £60.00 for weekends before 2 PM.

Twilight rates after 5 PM are £35.00 every day.
