Stover Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Devon. The club was first formed in 1894.
Stover Golf Course was originally established in 1894 by Major Harold St Maur on his own estate, which became public in 1897 as The Stover and Mid-Devon Golf Club. Initially a 9-hole course, by 1914 it had expanded to an 18-hole course of 4,988 yards.
The current golf course's incarnation dates from 1931 when a syndicate of local businessmen, led by James Braid and J.R. Stutt, designed and constructed a new course, which measured over 6,400 yards before being reduced during World War II due to land requisition. As of 1949, the course was fully restored to 18 holes but eventually became shorter and tighter than Braid's original design.
