Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club

The Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club was established in 1888 on what was once a battlefield for medieval clan battles in the area now known as Strathpeffer, evolving from a popular Victorian spa resort. This golf course originally featured nine holes and was situated below Ben Wyvis, designed to overlook the village in Ulladale on the Cromartie Estate.

Designed originally by Willie Park Jr., a two-time Open Championship winner, the nine-hole Strathpeffer course was later expanded to 18 holes under the guidance of Old Tom Morris, also a renowned golfer and course architect. Strathpeffer is thus considered one of Morris' notable course designs, maintaining the original layout of its greens through the years.

The clubhouse at Strathpeffer has seen developments over the course of time, with the original croft being replaced in 1903 by a new structure designed by architect W.C. Joass. In 2003, a larger clubhouse was constructed by the members, which is still in use today and offers a lounge bar, shop, and other amenities.

Changes over time have not significantly altered the Strathpeffer course, which remains notable for its unchanged greens and the challenge it offers. The golf course is located in Strathpeffer, Ross-shire, Scotland, and remains a noteworthy site for its strategical design attributes and historical value.
