Tavistock Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Devon. The club was first formed in 1890.
Tavistock Golf Club was founded in 1890 by 12 enthusiasts and officially opened in early 1891 with a 9-hole course on land owned by the Duke of Bedford, situated on Whitchurch Down above the town of Tavistock. The layout has since evolved through multiple changes, expanding to 18 holes in 1914, and transitioning through four different configurations to its current location on the north and east sides of the Down.
The current clubhouse, erected by the Duke of Bedford in 1915 and intended to bolster the local economy, was acquired by the club members from the Bedford Estate in 1957. Over its history, the club has had ties to the military, including a patronage from the Duke of Edinburgh and an association with the US 29th Division during World War II, and has achieved recognition by winning the England Inter Club Championship in 2004.
