The Mere Golf Resort & Spa

The golf course at The Mere was designed by James Braid and came into existence as part of an estate development by Edgar Hart in 1934, with professional golfer George Duncan as the club's first professional.

In 1984, Stephen Boler purchased The Mere and embarked on a transformation that included the creation of a Health Club and Spa in 2011, and an 81-bedroom hotel in March 2012, rebranding the property as The Mere Golf Resort & Spa.

Notably, the course has been a host to the R&A Open Qualifier for seven consecutive years, a distinction amongst golf resorts. Throughout its history, various aspects of the club and resort have been named in honor of key individuals associated with its development and management.
