About: Thirsk And Northallerton Golf Club

Thirsk And Northallerton Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Yorkshire. The club was first formed in 1914.

Thirsk & Northallerton Golf Club was established in 1914, alongside the founding of 18 other golf clubs in Britain, with its first nine holes located near Calvis Hall. The club's first annual meeting was chaired by Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey on May 18th of the same year, and the club adopted rules based on those of Scarborough GC.

The course, initially a nine-hole layout, was forced to relocate during the 1940s when Northallerton GC's original course near Bullamoor Road was repurposed for the war effort. After the war, the golf course found a permanent home at Low Wiske Moor, where it expanded over time and continued to serve the local golfing community.

In 1920, Reverend HPH Austen was appointed as the first Club Captain of Thirsk & Northallerton Golf Club, and by 1921, the club was recognized on the Register of the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs. The early history of the club is marked by the impact of World War I, which claimed 18 members for service and included the loss of Capt. Eykyn, the first member to apply for membership, who was killed in action.

The course was extended from 9 to 18 holes in 1997, creating the current layout enjoyed by golfers today. Its design offers golfers of varying skill levels a challenging experience, and its location in the North Yorkshire countryside provides views of the Hambleton Hills to the east and Wensleydale to the west.

Visitor summer green fees are valid from April 1st 2025 to October 30th 2025. Weekday green fees are £40.00 per round and £45.00 per day. Weekend and bank holiday green fees are £45.00 per round and £50.00 per day. Twilight golf (after 12 noon) is £25.00.
