Thorpe Hall Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Essex. The club was first formed in 1907.
Established in 1907, Thorpe Hall Golf Club was transformed from farmland by Colonel Burges with the assistance of Bert Batley, a golf professional. The course is characterized by its undulating greens, which a 1907 report for the Board of Directors praised for their excellent quality turf, ideal for putting, a standard maintained to the present day.
Throughout its history, Thorpe Hall has faced challenges such as closing during the Second World War when fairways were dug up for defense purposes. Nevertheless, it boasts a rich heritage of skilled players, including Sir Michael Bonallack and Peter Dawson, who have significantly contributed to golf both on and off the course.
Visitors are welcome Monday to Friday and weekend afternoons on a limited basis, subject to availability. To book, contact the Pro Shop on 01702 582 205 option 2. All golfers must provide evidence of an official handicap through the World Handicap System (WHS). Twilight rates are available Monday, Tuesday & Thursdays.
