About: Thurlestone Golf Club

Thurlestone Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Devon. The club was first formed in 1897.

Thurlestone Golf Club, established in 1897 and located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Devon, initially featured a nine-hole course designed by Charles Gibson. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1912, based on a design by J.H. Taylor, and further land acquisitions allowed for continual development including alterations by H.S. Colt in 1928 and Hawtree & Sons in 1971.

The most recent review by Donald Steel in 1994 resulted in minor changes, adapting the course to modern equipment changes, predominantly through additional and repositioned bunkers. Thurlestone Golf Club is noteworthy for its location along Bigbury Bay, blending links and cliff-top features, providing a challenging landscape that incorporates views of Thurlestone Rock and other significant coastal sights.
