Torquay Golf Club

The Torquay Golf Course, a parkland layout, was established by the incorporation of The Torquay New Golf Course Company Limited in 1909, and it occupies a tract of land in Petitor which was previously used for steeplechase meetings.

The course is distinguished by its lined fairways, high-quality greens, and panoramic views of Lyme Bay and Dartmoor, providing an interesting challenge to golfers of all skill levels. Notably, the course was laid out by the professional from Westward Ho! Links.

On May 20, 1911, the clubhouse of the Torquay Golf Course was inaugurated with an exhibition match featuring famous golfers of the time, Harry Vardon and J.H. Taylor, symbolizing the club's commitment to excellence in the sport from the outset.

Harry Vardon, a notable figure associated with the course, had won 'The Open Championship' four times prior to his involvement with Torquay Golf Club and secured another two months after the club's opening.

Visitor rates from April 1st, 2025 to October 31st, 2026 are £60 on weekdays and £65 on weekends. Twilight rates (from 3pm) are available at £35 on weekdays and £45 on weekends.
