Tyneside Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Durham. The club was first formed in 1879.
Tyneside Golf Club, established in 1879, is one of the oldest golf clubs in the North East of England and is notable for its parkland style course which offers a year-round playable ground due to the free-draining nature of the land. The course, highly regarded for the quality of its greens, sits elevated in old Ryton village with views over the River Tyne and the Tyne valley.
Designed by the esteemed Harry S Colt in 1911, Tyneside Golf Club's course reflects the classic design elements of his other works such as Wentworth and Sunningdale, while also undergoing contemporary refurbishments by Frank Pont of Infinite Variety Golf Design to enhance the original layout. The sand and gravel base of the course provides excellent drainage, making the course accessible throughout the year in contrast to some other regional courses.
Measuring just over six thousand yards with a par of 70, the golf course presents a robust challenge for golfers without being excessively long. Its design includes four distinct par 3s each facing a cardinal direction—North, South, East, and West—offering a diverse challenge and variety in play.
