Walmley Golf Club

Walmley Golf Club was established following a meeting in Erdington, Birmingham on 22nd September 1902, with a nine-hole course opening on 20th December of that year. It was later expanded to eighteen holes in May 1908, enhanced by a significant acquisition of land and a Victorian house repurposed as the clubhouse.

The golf course experienced challenges during World War II when half was ploughed up, but by 1962, the club had bought the freehold of the land, facilitating significant improvements and tree planting to develop a parkland-style course. A modern clubhouse was constructed, enabling panoramic views of the course, and the course witnessed further development in 1982 with additional land purchase that introduced new holes and water features.

Notable transformations include the relocation of the original par 3 that was once a highlight among the Midlands' golf holes, with changes to the course layout reflected in the subsequent placement of holes and club facilities. Today, three Larch trees, once small in a historical photograph, now stand as significant features to the left of the 12th fairway.

The club's historic evolution can also be tracked through available visuals, including photographs and videos that document the position of old holes in relation to the current golf course layout and the construction of the present greens. Collection of these historical materials can be found in Walmley Golf Club's Centenary Book as well as within the club premises.

Single adult visitor weekday green fees are £70. County Card holders are welcome Monday to Friday for £50. Junior visitors under 18 play for £20 when accompanied by an adult.
