About: Waterville Golf Club

Waterville Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Kerry. The club was first formed in 1973.

Waterville Golf Links, situated in County Kerry, Ireland, was established in 1973 with John A. Mulcahy, Claude Harmon, and Eddie Hackett as designers; it was later modified by Tom Fazio in 2002. The golf course occupies a triangular plot of land featuring boundaries with estuary waters, the Atlantic Ocean, and farmland with mountain views.

The layout of Waterville Golf Links incorporates dunes and gorse with rolling terrain to create memorable holes with excellent green locations, adhering to the characteristics of a true links-style course. With firm and fast greens and fairways, the course offers various choices in playing approach shots either through the air or along the ground.

Waterville Golf Links is known for its challenging play, holding a competitive course record of 71 set by Tony Jacklin.

The 12th hole, known as "The Mass Hole," is particularly significant as it was redesigned to honor the local tradition of holding mass in secret during times of persecution. The original greensite was moved from the valley to higher ground among the dunes to preserve the sacred area.
